Barbara Savage, the youngest of three daughters, was born to Peter and Mable Kastrenos on July 16, 1932 in Gloucester, Massachusetts. As a young girl, her family moved from Massachusetts to Lincoln, California. Barbara was raised there and attended school in Lincoln, California where she graduated from Lincoln High School with the Class of 1950. On December 16, 1956, Barbara was united in marriage to Herb Savage in Sacramento, California and two children: Scott and Susan were born to bless their union. Barb would be a full-time, stay-at-home mother, raising her children and caring for her husband and growing family. She loved being a Homemaker and providing the family with lots of love and support. Barb and Herb would spend 50+ years together, all in California. Herb preceded Barb in death on December 29, 2007. In May, 2008, Barb moved to Creston to live with her daughter and family. She had a special place in her heart for animals, especially cats and dogs. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Preceding Barb in death were her parents; husband Herb; two brothers-in-law: Ray Chiostri and Marshal Weir; by her great-uncles, Peter and Charlie Mehalakis, who helped raise Barb, following the death of her father.
Left to cherish Barb’s memory are her two children: Scott (wife Judy) Savage of Orangevale, CA and Susan (husband Todd) Dunphy of Creston; two grandchildren: Colton and Amy Dunphy and one great-granddaughter, Holly Dunphy. Barb is also survived by two sisters: Bessie Chiostri of Carmichael, CA and Mary Weir of Lincoln, CA and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. May God grant comfort and strength to those who mourn.
