Barton Eugene Everman, the son of Grant and Bess (Veach) Everman, was born on October 23, 1927, at Centerville, Iowa. Bart entered eternal rest on April 13, 2008, at the Osceola Nursing and Rehab Center, Osceola, Iowa, at the age of eighty years, five months, and twenty-two days.
Bart graduated from Centerville High School and attended one year of Junior College at Centerville before he was drafted into the Navy. Bart served in the United States Navy during World War II from October 18, 1945 until his discharge on October 20, 1948.
Bart married Marilyn Rose Miller at Centerville, Iowa. Bart moved to Creston from Centerville about 1950. He was a Conductor/Brakeman for the CBQ Railroad for several years. He also was a Conductor for Amtrak for a few years. Before retirement, Bart returned to Burlington Northern as a Conductor/Brakeman. He retired with over thirty years of service.
Bart was a member of the Creston V.F.W. and American Legion; Creston Eagles; Creston Crestmoor Golf Club and the Afton Lakeshore Golf Club. He owned and flew his own Taylor Craft Airplane. Bart and Marilyn traveled all over the U.S. either by car, rail or air.
Left to cherish Barts memory are his wife: Marilyn Everman, Creston; his son: John (wife Riina) Thompson, Winterset; six Grandchildren; Several Great-Grandchildren; his sisters: Virginia Koestner, Centerville; and Nancy (husband Ed) Blazina, Ottumna.
Preceding Bart in death were his parents; his Sister: Patsy, as an infant; and his Brother-in-Law: John Koestner.
