Becky Gibbens

Becky Gibbens, 67, of Creston, Iowa, formerly of the Osceola and Murray areas, passed away Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Creston Specialty Care.  Becky was cremated and no services are planned.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the Becky Gibbens Memorial Fund, c/o Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center, 809 W. Montgomery Street, Creston, Iowa. 

Becky L. Gibbens was born in Corning, Iowa on October 19, 1956, the daughter of Willis and Virginia (Ruark) Gibbens.  Becky grew up in Clarke County, in the Murray area and attended Murray schools.  As a young teenager, Becky dropped out of school but later returned to Murray High School, at the age of 36, and was proud to graduate with the Class of 1992. 

At a young age, Becky was blessed with 3 sons:  Kevin, Roger and Brian.  While the boys were growing up, Becky stayed home to raise them, working hard to be the best mother she could be.  After her boys were raised and out of the house, Becky worked for Hormel Foods in Osceola for a couple of years.  She then worked as a manager for the Osceola Subway and then as store manager for the Osceola Casey’s Store.  In 2008, Becky’s ill health forced her to quit working and she moved to Creston to be closer to her 3 sons.  When she wasn’t working, Becky enjoyed crocheting and doing crossword puzzles. 

Becky was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Roger Gibbens.  Left to mourn Becky’s passing are her sons:  Kevin Gibbens, Roger Zimmerman and Brian (Sandra) Zimmerman, all of Creston, Iowa; 5 grandchildren:  Crystal Zamora, Derek Zimmerman, Tristen Zimmerman, Maddie Zimmerman and Morgandy Shanks.  She is also survived by her brother, Larry (Dana) Gibbens of Des Moines, Iowa; a sister-in-law, Rainy Gibbens of Winterset, Iowa; and by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
