Cecil E. Beaman, 97, of Creston died Thursday, March 15, 2012, at Creston Nursing and Rehab. Center, Creston, Iowa. Graveside Services were at 1:00 P.M., Sunday, March 18, 2012, at Greenlawn Cemetery in Afton. Rev. Dwayne Henrichs officiated. Pearson Family Funeral Service, 809 W. Montgomery St., Creston, is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be directed to Care Initiatives Hospice of Greenfield Iowa.
Cecil Edward Beaman, the son of Edward Everett and Mary Ellen (Smock) Beaman, was born on August 28, 1914 near Hopeville in Clarke County, Iowa. Cecil lived his entire life in the Clarke and Union County areas. On August 8, 1940, he married Effie Irene Fleming near Hopeville in Clarke County, Iowa. Cecil helped support his family by helping different farmers; digging graves; digging wells; and other various jobs in the Hopeville, Murray, Thayer and Grand River areas. In 1958 he began work for Union County. Cecil constructed and maintained the roads in Union County until his retirement in 1979.
Cecil was a member of the Teamsters Union and the Bricklayers Union while he was employed. During his younger years he liked to hunt and fish. He enjoyed taking care of his family and was meticulous in keeping his property clean.
Left to cherish Cecil’s memory are his son: Gary (Roxanna) Beaman, Council Bluffs; his daughter: Cecilia (Marvin) McGinnis, Orient; Four Grandchildren: Shelly Beaman; Michael Beaman; Teresa (Douglas) Way; and Robert (Jamie) McGinnis; Four Great-Grandchildren; Eight Great-Great-Grandchildren; his sister-in-law: Lucille Beaman, Arispe; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Cecil in death were his parents; his wife in 2002; his brother, Owen Beaman; his sister, Grace Lewis; his granddaughter, Catherine McGinnis; and his great-grandson, Christopher Michael De Sandiego.
