Charles “Chuck” Nepple, 54 of Creston, IA entered eternal rest Friday, July 10, 2020 at Unity Point Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines, IA. The family will be hosting a celebration of life gathering Saturday, July 18, from 1:30 – 5 :00 PM at Crestmoor Golf Club, 1801 W. Townline Road in Creston. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Military Honors will be performed by the Iowa National Guard and the Theodore J. Martens, VFW Post #1797, at 1:00 PM Saturday in McKinley Park at the Veterans Commemorative Garden. Memories and condolences may be shared online at www.pearsonfuneralhomes.com.
Charles John Nepple was born at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Carroll, IA on November 18, 1965. Charles was the oldest of 3 children born to Charles Otto and Rita Ann (Grund) Nepple. Charles was raised and educated in Carroll, IA where he graduated early from Carroll-Kuemper High School. He graduated from Southwestern Community College in Creston after earning an Associate Degree in Auto Body Repair. Following graduation, Chuck enlisted in the United States Army in August 1985 and a short time later he was united in marriage to Annette June Knight on December 21, 1985 in Coon Rapids, IA. During his active duty, Chuck was stationed in Fort Lewis, Korea and in Germany. Charles was Honorably Discharged in June 1990 at Fort Dix, New Jersey. Upon his discharge, Charles returned to Iowa where he and Annette made their home in Sioux City and the couple were blessed with 3 children: Kenneth, Desiree and Anthony.
Upon his return to civilian life, Chuck began working for the BNSF Railroad in Sioux City. He would later become an Engineer and was transferred to Creston in 2003. His failing health forced him to medically retire after 17 years of service. Chuck was a member of the Creston American Legion and the Harley Owners Group. He was an avid reader and gamer and loved both online games and family games. He enjoyed watching movies and traveling when possible. Chuck and Annette were able to travel to the Black Hills in South Dakota in May of 2018. Family was always first to Chuck and he loved spending time with his family.
Charles was preceded in death by his parents, grand parents and other extended family members.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Annette Nepple of Creston; his 3 children: Kenneth (wife Mary) Nepple of Aurora, OH; Desiree (husband Cody) Callison of Afton, IA and Anthony Nepple of Creston; 3 grandchildren: Madelyn Nepple, Avangeline and Wesley Callison. Charles is also survived by his 2 younger siblings: Pam (husband Brad) Borchers of Sioux City, IA and Karen (husband Mike) Renslow of Jefferson, IA; his father and mother-in-law, Glen and Janet Knight of Coon Rapids, IA; a sister-in-law, Paula (husband Steve) Knight of Indianola, IA and a brother-in-law, Glen Knight, Jr of Glidden, IA; several nieces, nephews, many extended family members and friends.
