Charles Mac Moffitt, the son of Theodore William and Daisy Della (Balius) Moffitt, was born August 14, 1933 in Afton, Iowa. Mac departed from us on August 22, 2017 at Creston Specialty Care, Creston, Iowa at the age of eighty-four years and eight days.
Mac graduated from Diagonal High School with the Class of 1952, and always bragged about being in the top five of his class. He failed to mention there were only five in the class.
Mac enlisted in the United States Navy in 1953 and served until he was honorably discharged in 1957. After his discharge, Mac married LaDoris Fayrene Abell on July 3, 1959, in Mount Ayr. They were blessed with four children who loved him dearly: Richard, Donna, David and Terry. Mac drove a maintainer for Ringgold County Secondary Roads for thirty-three years and farmed five miles north of Diagonal. Mac retired in 2000. Mac and Fay sold the family farm and made their new home in Creston.
Mac was an active participant in the Pony Express, helping to raise awareness for Multiple Sclerosis and Easter Seals. Mac was a loving man who was always playing practical jokes, pulling pranks and teasing someone. Mac will be missed by all who knew him.
Left to cherish Mac’s memory is his wife, Fayrene Moffitt, Creston; his children: Richard Moffitt, Glenrock, WY; Donna (Lanny) Herzberg, Creston; David (Kelly) Moffitt, Creston; and Terry (Kristi) Moffitt, Diagonal; Fourteen Grandchildren: Brandy, Kim, Dayna and Shannon; Amy, Aaron, and Alex; Lacey, Kyla and Taylor; Leslie, DaNelle, Trisha and Trenton; and Twenty-eight Great-Grandchildren. Trenton’s son is the youngest great-grandson and named “Charles Mac Moffit” and nick-named “Charlie Mac”.
Preceding Mac in death were his parents; and his brothers and sisters.
