Charlie John Lawrence, son of John Howard and Acta Faye (Pugh) Lawrence, was born on December 3, 1925 in Adams County near Carbon, Iowa. Charlie passed away on Friday, May 31, 2013 at his home in Corning, Iowa at the age of eighty-seven years, five months and twenty-eight days.
On February 2, 1944, Charlie entered the United States Navy and served his country during WWII as a Seaman First Class. On June 11, 1946, Charlie was Honorably Discharged and returned to Corning and began a life-long farming career in Adams County with his dad in the Lincoln Center area.
Left to cherish Charlie’s memory are sisters-in-law: Mary Lawrence-Jones and Carmelita Lawrence; and several nieces and nephews.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: Vernon, Carl, Paul and Wesley Lawrence; one sister, Doris, who died at birth and sister-in-law, Iva Lawrence.
