Constance "Connie" Marxen, born on June 11, 1957, in Watertown, South Dakota, passed away unexpectedly at her residence in Creston, Iowa, on February 24, 2025. Connie was a loving and caring person who touched many lives throughout her journey. Known for her stubborn and tenacious spirit, she built a life that reflected her passion for connection and community, never hesitating to chat and joke with all who came her way.
Connie was a proud graduate of Corning High School’s Class of 1975 and embraced many roles throughout her life with grace and versatility. A true jack of all trades, she excelled as an Office Administrator, where her warmth and professionalism built strong relationships. Whether behind a desk or behind the bar, Connie’s charm and elegance left a lasting impression on everyone she met.
Connie made her home in Creston, Iowa, since 1996, having previously lived in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Omaha, Nebraska, California, and Nevada. She was a dedicated member of the Trinity Lutheran Church of Creston and contributed to her local community in various ways.
In life, she enjoyed fishing, camping, and sewing, activities that brought her life joy and fulfillment as well as closeness with family and friends. Her pride and joy were her children, Dustin Weihs (wife Sahar) of Ontario, Canada, and Brianne Weihs of Ankeny, Iowa. She was also blessed with three grandchildren: Dominic, Colton, and Connor, along with two step-grandchildren: Paige and Owen. Her passion in life became all of her grandchildren, always quick to share the latest pictures and updates with all.
Connie was united in marriage to Frank Weihs, and together they were blessed with two children. Later in life, she married Rob Marxen, who preceded her in death in 2017. Connie's family also includes her brother, Brian Kannas (wife Mary) of Corning, Iowa; her sister, Lisa Wolfe (husband John) of Creston, Iowa; and two sisters-in-law: Kaye Kannas of Urbandale, Iowa, and Betty Marxen of Cedar Falls, Iowa; her stepson Jayson Weihs of Sioux Falls, SD, and her stepdaughter, Brandy Wagner (husband Jack) of Cromwell, Iowa. She is remembered by several nieces, nephews, other loving relatives, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy Charles and Estella Vivian (Redemske) Kannas; her brother, Steve Kannas; her second husband, Rob Marxen; two brothers-in-law: Steve Marxen and Ralph Marxen; her sister-in-law, Barbara Johnson; and a nephew, Clint Marxen.
Visitation will be held on March 3, 2025, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center in Creston, Iowa. A memorial service will take place the following day, March 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM. Connie will be missed by all who knew her and her legacy will live on through her children and grandchildren.
