Cooper Wayne Boswell was born on September 10, 2013, into the loving arms of his parents, Jason and Wendi Boswell. He was excitedly welcomed home by his big brother Parker.
Known as “mini-Mark,” he was a bright and spirited young man with an infectious smile who was very proud of his freckles!
Cooper loved the outdoors and hated wearing socks and shoes! Jeeping trips to the Colorado mountains were always a favorite—even though he had to have Dramamine close at hand. When the air turned cold, he and dad had the best times together. Coop got trapping fever, and they spent hours together scouting trails and setting traps. The best part was checking them in the morning—Coop couldn't wait to see what they caught. Dad taught him how to skin his own furs, and Cooper loved every part of it.
When he finished outside, Coop's favorite spot of all was a warm snuggle under the covers with Mom watching a scary movie or reading his favorite Percy Jackson books. Coop loved music and would sing boldly along with mom in the car or with Alexa at home, pausing to share a fact about the artist or the meaning of the song.
Parker and Cooper were an inseparable pair—running through the house, sword fighting, wrestling, or dancing and singing on top of the coffee tables. Together P and Coop spent hours in the timber around their home with bb guns and .22s hunting squirrels, rabbits, and sparrows. Cooper had a shooting range off the deck with a little metal target in the yard. He plunked at that target until there wasn't any paint left on it!
Last summer, Cooper helped Parker get a 4-wheeler running so they could ride together around the timber. Cooper made Parker promise not to tell Mom when he rolled it! He spent hours practicing Air Boxing in his room so he could kick Parker’s butt the next time he came home from college. Parker and Cooper played hard and loved each other deeply.
He had an insatiable curiosity for facts—all facts! His sentences often started with "Did you know..." before he would launch into complex explanations of how things worked and the physics behind them. He completed hundreds of Lego projects and mastered the art of cooking “Debbie Noodles”, although the dirty dishes were never mastered.
Math and science were his favorite subjects. Cooper started each school day by giving his teachers a Good Morning hug, which they often said was the highlight of their day. His family encourages all of Cooper's classmates to carry on his legacy by sharing love and kindness just as he did.
He is survived by his parents and brother Parker Boswell; maternal grandparents, Julie and Rick Schafer, aunt Allison King (Cale Thompson), and cousins Carson and Ryker; paternal grandparents, Carolyn and Mark Boswell; uncle Justin (Jessica) Boswell and cousins Emma and Ella; great-grandparents Bobby Boswell and Gloria West. Special in his life were Makayla McMann, Debbie Sickels, his beloved dog Drexel and kitty named Poopy.
Waiting at heaven’s door with hugs and kisses are his great-grandparents, Wayne and Georgie Goodvin, Bill and Wilma Schafer, Clarence Boswell, and Lee West; his Uncle Brett Schafer, great-aunt Misty West, cousin Dane West, and special Nana Lori Bain.
A public visitation will be held Thursday, April 10, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Pearson Funeral Home in Corning. The service and interment will be private.
The family asks that you honor Cooper’s memory by spending time outdoors with loved ones, casting a line into your favorite fishing hole, or simply noticing the freckles of someone you love. Memorials may be directed to the family.
