Diane Kay Frost Parker, 79, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025, surrounded by her three loving children. Born on February 15, 1946, to Eugene and Gladys Bowman, Diane was a woman who cherished life and the people around her. She had an infectious love for others, especially the elderly, and was known for her warmth, kindness, and generosity.
A proud graduate of Johnston High School, Class of 1964, Diane’s life was filled with passions that brought her great joy, including singing, dancing, and a deep love for horses. Her mantra, “I am me. I’m the best me there is. I’ll always be a second-best somebody else,” reflected her belief in embracing one’s individuality and being true to oneself.
Diane's professional life was marked by two fulfilling careers. She spent nine years in the probate area of the Trust Department at Iowa Des Moines National Bank, where she built meaningful connections and took pride in her work. In 1990, she transitioned to a career in sales with Des Moines Stamp Manufacturing, where she remained until her retirement in February 2005. Diane was dedicated to both her jobs and found great joy in each day she went to work.
Diane was a member of Meredith Drive Reformed Church and loved to give back, whether through charitable contributions or her support of family and friends. Her love for people and life was evident to everyone she met, as she never met a stranger. She also had a special bond with her Pomeranian, Peanut, who provided comfort and companionship during her early years with Alzheimer’s.
Diane is survived by her three children, whom she adored: Tom (Heather) Frost, Scott (Erica) Frost, and Wendee (Matt) Wood. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Cody, Dylan, Blake, Brett, Bailee, and Kylee, and great-grandchildren, Katie Grace and Keeton Ryleigh, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Todd Parker; her parents, Eugene and Gladys Bowman; and her sisters, Marilyn Cipra Beall and Sharyn Richards.
Diane will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, kindness, and devotion to family and friends will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
