Donald Paul Weisshaar

Donald Paul Weisshaar, the son of Alban “Bunny” Paul and Mary Catherine (Allbaugh) Weisshaar, was born on January 24, 1925 in Creston, Iowa. Donald entered eternal rest on August 26, 2009, at Greater Regional Hospice Home, in Creston, Iowa, at the age of eighty-four.
Donald graduated from Creston High School with the Class of 1943. Donald served in the United States Coast Guard from 1943 until 1946 during World War II. On November 17, 1952, he married Nellie Antoinette Misgaites in Creston.
Donald lived most of his life in Creston. He lived in Rochelle, IL for 7 years and in Indianola for 2 years. Donald worked for a diesel Engine Company, Fairbanks-Morse Engine Division of Beloit, Wisconsin, for over 30 years. He traveled for the company all over the United States and to different countries. Donald retired in 1989.
Donald was a life-time member of the VFW and the American Legion. He was also a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Elks Lodge of Creston, Lakeshore Golf Club in Afton, and Knights of Columbus.
Left to cherish Donalds memory are his wife: Nellie Weisshaar, Creston; his seven children: Terry (wife Mary) Weisshaar, West Lafayette, IN; Connie (husband Tim) Hope, Newberg, OR; Carl (wife Bette) Weisshaar, Middleton, WI; Ed (wife Trish) Weisshaar, Lawrence, KS; Donna (husband Mike) King, Creston; Nancy (husband Dale) Amdor, Corning; and Mary Lou (husband Dean) Metzger, Ames; Fifteen Grandchildren: Barrett Weisshaar, Meredith (husband Peter Hawkes) Weisshaar; Christy McCambridge; Debi (husband Aaron) Wilson; Ryan McCambridge; Adrienne (husband Matt) Amman; Christine Weisshaar; Jamie (wife Katherine) King; Carrie (husband Chris) Leighow; Jenny (husband Ty) Breese; Adam Amdor; Eric Amdor (Fiance Lori Fadiga); Brent Amdor; Jeff Metzger, and Amy Metzger; Twelve Great-Grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
Preceding Donald in death were his Parents; Mother-in-Law and Father-in-Law: Antanetta and Alex Melnicke; Sister, Eileen Griffith; and Brother Jim Weisshaar.
