Doreen Elizabeth ORiley was born to Anna Mae (Mateer) and Herbert James ORiley on August 15, 1922, at Mount Vernon, South Dakota. Doreen entered eternal rest on October 17, 2005, at Greater Community Hospital in Creston, Iowa, at the age of eighty-three years, two months, and four days.
Doreen lived on a farm in Union County since 1931. She attended and graduated from Creston High School with the class of 1940. She moved to Creston in 1954. Doreen worked for Gits Manufacturing in Creston for a total of 32 1/2 years. She worked as a machine operator at Gits Manufacturing before her retirement in 1987.
Doreen was a member of the VFW Auxiliary and Womens Club. Her hobbies included gardening, crocheting and crafting where she made numerous gifts for her family. Doreen enjoyed having coffee with her friends. She also enjoyed traveling and took many trips sponsored by the First National Bank including Switzerland, Hawaii, and Alaska, among others.
Left to mourn Doreens passing are her sisters: Doris ORiley, Creston; Hazel Bada, Carlsbad, CA; Nephews: Jeffrey (Margaret) Bada, Encinitas, CA; Stephen (Sheryl) ORiley, Minonk, IL; Craig (Sandy) ORiley, Ames, IA; Kirk (Sheila) ORiley, Lenox, IA; Niece: Beverly (Darrell) Kelly, Upland, CA; Niece-In-Law: Sue Baker, Urbandale, IA; twelve great nieces and nephews; six great-great nieces and nephews.
Preceding Doreen in death were her Parents; Brothers: Albert ORiley and Wayne ORiley; Sisters-in-Law: Emma ORiley and Betty ORiley; Nephew: Gordon ORiley; Brother-In-Law: Richard Bada; and Aunt: Nada Sammons who helped raise Doreen and her siblings after their mothers passing in 1931,
