Doris Marie Roach of Des Moines formerly of Corning, Iowa, the daughter of Augusta Mae (Sutton) and Thomas Pennington was born March 13, 1926 in Corning, Iowa. Doris entered eternal rest on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at Iowa Methodist Hospital, Des Moines, Iowa at the age of eighty years and eleven months.
Doris was united in marriage on March 11, 1942 to Ronald A. Roach at Grant City, Missouri. She was a devoted wife and loving mother of four children. Doris enjoyed socializing with friends and neighbors, crocheting, and was a wonderful cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Tom and Augusta Pennington; husband, Ronald Roach on September 14, 1988; brothers, Wesley Pennington, Paul “Penny” Pennington, Roy “Toab” Pennington, and sister, Hazel Johnson.
Doris is survived by her children: daughter, Carolyn Preston of Des Moines, Iowa; son and daughter-in law, John and Linda Roach of Kent, Iowa; son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Sherry Roach of rural Kellogg, Iowa; daughter, Laurie Schaefer of Indianola, Iowa; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Marie Roach and family of Boulder, Colorado.
