Dorothy Lola Ambrose, daughter of Clara (Johannes) and Mose D. Wilson was born January 4th, 1920 on a farm near Mount Etna Iowa. Dorothy entered eternal rest Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at the Greater Regional Hospice House, Creston, Iowa, at the age of ninety-eight years.
Dorothy graduated from Corning High School in 1938. Dorothy taught school in a one room school house in rural Adams County. She also was a Union County 4H leader. She was an active member in her church serving in many capacities, including the ladies quilting group.
On August 28th, 1940 she married Burton A. Ambrose in Rock Port Missouri. They moved to a farm near Arispe. Here they happily welcomed their daughter Shirley in 1944. In 1949 they moved to a farm near Cromwell. They retired and moved to Creston in 1978.
Left to cherish Dorothy’s memory is her daughter: Shirley (Larry) Simmer, Ankeny, Iowa; grandchildren: Bonnie (Dave) Young, Ankeny, Iowa; Kelly Simmer, Ankeny, Iowa; Karen (Mike) Denger, Kelley, Iowa; great-grandchildren: David Young; Ashlynn Denger; Raymond Denger; Zeke Denger; along with many other relatives and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Burton (1986), and her parents.
