Dorothy C. Montague

Dorothy Cecilia Montague, the daughter of Casper and Mae Margaretha (Kegley) Schmitz, was born on January 15, 1925, in Prairie Center Township near Kearney, Nebraska. Dorothy entered eternal rest on July 26, 2007, at her home in Creston, Iowa, at the age of eighty-two years, six months and ten days.
Dorothy graduated from Pleasonton High School in Nebraska with the Class of 1942. Dorothy received an Associate Degree from Nebraska State Teachers College at Kearney in 1944. Dorothy received her Registered Nursing Degree at the St. Elizabeths Hospital School of Nursing in Lincoln, NE.
Dorothy began her nursing career in Denver, CO, where she met Robert. Dorothy and Robert were married in Denver on November 24, 1949, and resided there about one year. Dorothy and Robert previously lived in Pueblo, CO and Portales, NM before moving to Creston in 1956. Dorothy was a homemaker until her sons were all in school. At that time she resumed her nursing career. On July 1, 1987, Dorothy retired after 22 years as the head Surgical Nurse at the Creston Medical Clinic. She was hired by Dr. R.H. Kuhl, retired under Dr. R.M. Kuhl.
Dorothy was a member of the Holy Spirit Catholic Church; the Catholic Daughters of America; Registered Nurses Association; and really enjoyed playing bridge. Dorothy was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary.
Dorothy is survived by her sons: Stephen R. (wife Carol) Montague, Kansas City, MO; Patrick R. (wife Pam) Montague, Allen, TX; Michael V. Montague, Kansas City, MO: Daniel J. (wife Kristi) Montague; Marion, IA; her Eight Grandchildren: Michael, Ryan, Laura, Evan, Emily, Joshua, Maleta and Olivia; her Sisters: Alice (Schmitz) Reichstein, Scottsbluff, NE; and Margaret Schmitz, Salinas, CA; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Dorothy in death were her Parents; her Husband, Robert, on July 10, 2006, and granddaughter, Ashley; Two Brothers: Bernard and Francis Schmitz; One sister: Laura Schmitz and by her brother-in-law, Rink Reichstein.
