Florence “Flossie” Christina (Nelson) Roberts, the daughter of Axel Christian and Elise (Nelsen) Nelson, was born in York County, Nebraska on July 31, 1927. She passed away Saturday, December 7, 2019 at the Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston, at the age of ninety-two.
Her parents moved the family to Prescott, Iowa in 1940. She graduated from Prescott High School with the class of 1945. After high school, she worked in the surgery department at the Creston hospital.
On October 21, 1948 Flossie married Harold Eugene Roberts at the Salem Lutheran Church in Creston. After she and Harold married, she became a devoted homemaker and mother to her three children. She was very active in the Creston community, winning citizen of the year in 2008. She was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church where she performed many roles. Flossie was also a member of the Bancroft Women’s Group. She enjoyed tending to her gardens and being active with the library.
Left to cherish Flossie’s memory are her children, Kathy Fullarton of Eau Claire, Wisconsin and Allan Roberts and wife Jean of Monroe Township, New Jersey; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold Nelson and wife Pat of Creston, Iowa and James Nelson and wife Pat of Winterset, Iowa; sister-in-law, Patti Nelson of North Carolina; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, David; son-in-law, Stuart Fullarton and brothers, Arnold and David Nelson.
