Gerald Eugene Queck was born on September 7, 1942 to Harold and Evelyn (Worthington) Queck at Creston, Iowa and died on Thursday, November 21, 2013 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa at the age of seventy-one years, two months and fourteen days after a battle with cancer.
Gerald grew up on a farm northwest of Fontanelle and was active in 4-H . He graduated from Fontanelle High School. He spent four years in the Navy serving mostly on the U.S.S. Turner Joy in the Pacific Ocean. He was a member of the Williamson American Legion Post #719. Gerald married Margaret Ann Wiese on his 45th birthday, September 7, 1987. Their married life was spent in the Corning area where he and Margaret enjoyed wood crafting, attending stock car races, and singing with the community singers.
Gerald worked at various places in his life, mostly involved in the Agriculture Industry. Gerald also worked at Corning Nursing and Rehab for thirteen years and Schuler Mfg where Gerald welded and painted farm wagons.
Gerald will be remembered by his loving wife, Margaret Queck of Corning, IA; siblings Lavon (Lyle) Lutz of Fontanelle, IA, Shirley (Evan) Rayl of Bridgewater, IA and Chyleen (Paul) Pauesick of Kansas City, Kansas and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his beloved dog Chips.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents: Harold and Evelyn Queck; mother and father-in-law: Gladys and Ernest Wiese and brother-in-law, Jerry Wiese.
