Glen Higgins

Glen D. Higgins, 76, of Creston. passed away Wednesday, May 2, 2018, at Crest Haven Care Center in Creston. Graveside Services will be 10:30 AM, Monday, May 7, 2018 at The Graceland Cemetery Chapel, Creston, IA with Pastor Tony Thurston, Officiating. Military Honors will be provided by The United States Navy. Visitation is open to the public 3-5 PM on Sunday, May 6, at the funeral home. Glen Dean Higgins, the son of Glen H. and Lucille W. (Allen) Higgins, was born on February 8, 1942 in Iowa City, IA. Glen was educated in the Creston Public Schools, graduating from Creston High School with the Class of 1961. He enlisted in The United States Navy on December 10, 1963 and was Honorably Discharged on November 16, 1966. He continued to serve his Country in the Naval Reserves until December 9, 1969.
Glen married Grace “Ilene” Ford in May, 1969 and the couple later divorced. He worked in the welding department for Purolator for eight years and then Bunn-O-Matic for 22 years, retiring in July of 1999 for health reasons. Glen was a very quiet, private person and life-long resident of Creston.
Glen is survived by his sons: Ron (wife, Erin) Higgins and Rob Higgins (significant other, Deana Hartmann), all of Creston; four grandchildren: Morgan and Lydia Higgins; Cory Hartmann and Anna Shea; and his brother-in-law, Richard Kaster, Creston.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Carolyn Kaster; Ex-wife, Ilene Coverdell; and infant daughter, Christie Higgins.
