Harry William “Bill” Balius was born to Rhoda Martha (Batton) and Charles William Balius on December 14, 1917, near Afton, in Union County, Iowa. Harry entered eternal rest on October 12, 2006, at his home in Weldon, Iowa, at the age of eighty-eight years, nine months, and twenty-nine days.
Harry married Frances Mae Ritter on November 24, 1940, at Grant City, Missouri.
He farmed for fifty-seven years near Sewal, Iowa. Harry then worked at the Penn Dixie Cement Plant for fifteen years. He retired to West Des Moines, before moving to Weldon this year.
Harry loved his wife, kids, grandkids, great-grandkids, farming, livestock, and tractors. He loved to go fishing at his farm pond and enjoyed woodworking.
Left to mourn Harrys passing is his wife of sixty-five years, Frances; his daughters: Jeanne Argenta, Pleasant Hill, Iowa; Wanda (husband Bill) Hickey, Minburn, Iowa; Joyce (husband Steve) Golly, Weldon, Iowa; his sons: Lee (wife Sally) of West Des Moines, Iowa; Charles (wife Chris) Balius of West Des Moines, Iowa; thirteen grandchildren, and twenty-one great-grandchildren.
Preceding Harry in death were his Parents; his brothers: Ernest, Don, Wayne, and Francis Balius; two brothers in infancy; and his sisters: Daisy Moffitt and Beulah Slaybaugh.
