Irene Osborn

Irene Mae Osborn, the daughter of William Thorn and Edith Mae (Wilson) Madison, was born on July 13, 1920, in Creston, Iowa. Irene entered eternal rest on December 10, 2013 at Edgewater Nursing Facility, West Des Moines, Iowa at the age of ninety-three years, four months, and twenty-seven days.
Irene graduated from Creston High School with the Class of 1937. On March 27, 1944 she married Deane Smith in Alexandria, Louisiana. Three children were born to this union. Deane passed away on September 21, 1975. On June 14, 1980 she married William Osborn in Creston, Iowa.
Irene worked for Violet’s Beauty Shop for a few years; and she was a homemaker most of her adult life. She enjoyed gardening and raising flowers, baking for her family and friends, sewing and embroidering. Irene loved to play cards, especially canasta and bridge, and participated in several card clubs. Irene and Deane loved to play golf and enjoyed family oriented activities. Irene has lived in Des Moines the past seven years.
Irene was a former member of the Elks Lodge in Creston; and a former member of Crestmoor Golf Club. She was very active in the Creston Congregational Church for many years.
Left to cherish Irene’s memory are her children: Dee (Jerry) Warren, Clive, IA; Bruce (Darlene) Smith, Cheyenne, WY; and Martha (Jeff) Crill, Corning, IA; her nine grandchildren: Dana Dunphy; Heather Brezinski; Lincoln Decklever; Matt Decklever; Ken Smith; Brett Smith; Brandyn Crill; Clint Crill; and Chase Crill; Eleven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Irene in death were her parents; both husbands; one brother; one sister; and granddaughter, Erin.
