Janet Lee Wick was born in Creston, Iowa on September 7, 1933, the daughter of Ora Sam and Rita Bell (Perrigo) Wick. Janet was welcomed home by her brother, Richard. Ora was injured during WWI and died when Janet and Richard were very young. Rita later married Ernest Nauman and together had 3 more children: Howard, Darlene and Ronnie Nauman.
Janet enlisted in the United States Army, serving during the Korean Conflict. She was stationed in Ft. Bliss, Texas and was Honorably Discharged in 1954. While in Texas, Janet was an emotional Caregiver for soldiers who returned from war with debilitating injuries. Upon returning to civilian life, Janet moved to Des Moines and was a Taxi Driver. She returned to Creston and continued operating a Taxi service for 25 years. During this time, Janet lived with her beloved friend, Dorothy and her two children. She had many other friends, especially Dennis Williams and Cathy Parcher, who were long-time caregivers. Janet was a life-long member of the Eagles Lodge in Creston and VFW Post #1797.
Preceding Janet in death were her parents; her beloved friend, Dorothy and her 2 children; step-father, Ernest Nauman; sister-in-law, Dorothy Wick; 2 brothers: Howard “Dutch” Nauman and Ronnie Nauman; sister, Darlene Garner.
Janet is survived by her brother, Richard Wick of Council Bluffs, IA; sister-in-law, Penny Nauman of Creston; Children and grandchildren of Richard Wick, Dutch Nauman, Ronnie Nauman and Darlene Garner; and other extended family. She is also survived by her beloved, 15 year-old cat, Iggy Pooh. She will be missed by her family, her friends and all who knew and loved her.
