James Randall Jones, the son of James Ellis and Adeline Luella (Roberts) Jones was born on July 19, 1954 at Jennie Edmundson Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He graduated from Bellevue High School in 1972. After high school, Jim worked at a newspaper company before joining the United States Air Force in 1976. He was discharged in 1978. He then worked for Nebraska Medical Center, Burcliff and Midwest Products.
In 2008, Jim started working as a cook at Country Haven in Corning, a job he really enjoyed. When Country Haven moved their residents to homes, he then began working for Choice in their men’s houses. He would also work at Pizza Hut until it closed due to flooding. While working at Country Haven, Jim met his wife, Stephanie Marie Childs, who was working as a dishwasher. In 2015, the couple had a commitment ceremony and on June 16, 2017 they legally became husband and wife.
Jim loved trains and would often sit in his recliner and count the number of train cars as they would go by. He liked to go to the beach, feed and watch birds, playing cards, and watching Jeopardy. Most of all, Jim loved his time spent with Stephanie.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Edwin Elder; two sisters, Terry and Nancy; brother-in-law, Joe Bradley; uncle, James “Buzz” Roberts and cousin, Cindy Roberts.
Left to cherish Jim’s memory is his wife, Stephanie; sisters, Sally (Garry) Teaman and Susan (Mike) Hall; aunt, Charlotte Roberts; cousin, Jimmy Roberts; mother-in-law, Auda (Rob) Childs; father-in-law, Merrill (Linda) Childs; brother-in-law, Chris (Melissa) Childs; sisters-in-law, Kayce (Steve) Pudenz and Lauren (Ryan) Davies; many other relatives and friends.
