Jimmy L. Flannigan, Jr. was born on February 13, 1965, on a cotton plantation in Southern Mississippi. He passed away on February 5, 2025, at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston, Iowa.
Jimmy had a varied career. He worked for an oil company offshore as an oil rigger for several years. He also worked on HVAC systems in both Texas and Iowa. Additionally, when possible, he took on work installing field tile for various farmers.
In his personal life, Jimmy's family moved from Mississippi to Texas when he was a teenager. He later moved to Bedford, Iowa in 2005. On April 11, 2009, he married Robin Davis in Lenox, Iowa. The couple settled in Creston in 2020.
Jimmy was known for being very crafty and had an interest in collecting skulls. Halloween was his favorite time of year. He loved fishing and camping, and he aimed to be the "fun" grandpa, cherishing the time spent with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Robin Flannigan of Creston, Iowa; his daughter, Peggy Flannigan of Goshen, Indiana; sons Devin (Kristen) Christensen of Ankeny, Iowa; Corey (Korby) Christensen of Fontanelle, Iowa; Jesse (Savannah) Christensen of Creston, Iowa; along with eight grandchildren. He is also survived by his two sisters, Angie (Ed) Ramsey of Villisca, Iowa and Lisa Byrge of Jacksboro, Tennessee; along with several aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jimmy Flannigan, Sr.; his mother, Peggy Brooks; and a brother, David.
