Josephine Jo Caylor

Josephine “Jo” (Pashek) Caylor, 68, of Creston, passed away Friday, September 20, 2019 at Creston Specialty Care. Graveside services will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 26, 2019 at the Murray Cemetery, US Hwy 34 & 135th Ave., Murray, IA. Rev. Mary O’Riley officiating. No visitation is planned. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center of Creston is in charge of arrangements. Josephine LaVerne Caylor was born in Creston, Iowa on August 10, 1951, the daughter of Bedrick Joseph and Lenora (Kohl) Pashek. Jo was educated in the Creston Public Schools and graduated from Creston High School with the Class of 1970. Following high school, Jo moved to Osceola and went to work for Furnas Electric/Siemens. She worked as an Assembler making Thermostat Controls and Pressure Switches. Later, when the company closed and moved to Mexico, Jo went to work for Bunn-O-Matic in Creston. She worked for Bunn approximately 10 years until ill health forced her to retire.
Jo was united in marriage to Larry Joe Caylor in November of 1993 in Leon, Iowa. Larry became a step-father to Jo’s son, Chad and Jo became step-mother to Larry’s son, Thad. Jo loved gardening and was always tending to her large vegetable and flower gardens. She was an excellent seamstress, a wonderful cook and enjoyed traveling to various places in the continental United States. Jo lived the majority of her adult life in Osceola until moving to Creston for the last 2 1/2 years.
Jo’s husband, Larry, preceded Jo in death in December of 2013. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Gene Kohl and an infant brother, David Pashek at birth; her sister, Betty Golding; and 2 brothers-in-law: Bob Golding and Grover Gant.
Left to cherish Jo’s memory is her son, Chad (wife Tanya) Pashek of Osceola; step-son, Thad (wife Connie) Caylor of Urbandale, Iowa; 3 grandchildren: Mariah Johannes, Carson Caylor and Riley Caylor; several other step-grandchildren; 2 brothers: Cliff Pashek and Carl Pashek, both of Nevinville, Iowa; 2 sisters: Hazel (husband Paul) Foote of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Frances Gant of Creston; sister-in-law, Linda Kohl of Mt. Ayr, Iowa; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Jo will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
