Kay Smith-Norris, daughter of Floyd Dean and Nellie Marie (Peterson) Shell was born on Monday, January 19, 1942 in Adair County, near Casey, Iowa. Kay entered eternal rest on Sunday morning, November 8, 2009, at her home in Creston, at the age of sixty-seven years, nine months and twenty-one days.
Kay attended and graduated from Adair-Casey High School on May 17 with the Class of 1960.
Kay was married to Clarence Crawley and two children were born to this union, the couple later divorced. Kay was married to Jerry Emgarten and one daughter was born, the couple later divorced. Kay was married to Larry Norris. Larry preceded Kay in death in 1992.
Most recently Kay worked as a Clerk for Kum Go. Prior to that, Kay worked in the Bakery Department at Easters for many years. Kay also worked at Trolley in Quality Control and as a Machine Operator.
Kay adored and valued her family and friends, spending all her time with them. She loved to go camping and enjoyed her crafts and tending to her flowers.
Left to cherish Kays memory is her daughter, Tawny (husband Rich) Stauffer; son, Scott Crawley and special friend Leah Claiser, all of Creston; twelve grandchildren and one great-grandson; sisters: Elane Adams of Casey, Iowa and Linda (husband Salvador) Marquez of Pierce, Colorado; brother, Butch Shell of California; sisters-in-law: Sandy Shell of Casey, Iowa and Pam Shell of Kansas City, Missouri; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Kay in death were her parents; daughter, Leann Hingely; husband, Larry Norris; two brothers: Alan and Wayne Shell; sisters: Nancy Dillion, Gleana Shell and Tammy Shell.
