Kenneth Harold “Tank” Shires, son of Donald Edgar and Hazel Hallene (ORiley) Shires, was born on March 25, 1950 in Clarinda, Iowa. Tank passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at his home in Prescott, Iowa at the age of sixty-one years.
Tank attended Prescott Community School and graduated with the Class of 1968.
Tank farmed in his younger years. Later, he owned and operated the Wagon Wheel Restaurant in Prescott for several years.
Tank enjoyed watching baseball.
Tank was an active member of the Prescott United Christian Church. He was currently serving as Worshipful Master in Circle Lodge #555 in Prescott, Iowa and held several other positions over the years.
Left to cherish Tanks memory is his brother, Myron (Jannis) Shires Greenfield, nieces and nephews: Darwin (Lori) Shires of Corning, Donna Shires of Corning, Debbie (Zoomer) Westphal of Fontanelle, Donald (Jen) Shires of Corning, Danny (Sally) Shires of Corning, Bobby Jr. (Trisha) Shires of Kansas City, Wende Shires of Van Meter, Michelle Shires of Kansas City; several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Linda Shires.
Tank was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bob Shires.
