No public visitation is planned. Family will receive friends at the home of Brandy Marxen, 406 N. Pine St., Creston. Inurnment will be at the Graceland Cemetery following the memorial service. Memorials may be directed to the family in Larrys name.
Larry Lewis Richards was born to Lula Edna (Still) and Arlo Lewis Richards on September 7, 1945, at Creston, Iowa. Larry entered eternal rest on October 29, 2006, at the Kavanagh House in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of sixty-one years, one month, and twenty-one days.
Larry lived his entire life in Creston, Iowa, and attended school through eleventh grade in Creston. In March, 1963, he married Virginia Moore and three children were born to this union. They later divorced. Larry was a welder while working for Creston Purolator and Van Mark. He worked at Purolator from age seventeen until it closed. Then he worked at Van Mark until his health began to decline.
Larrys hobbies included attending the stock car races at the Adams County Speedway. In the 1970s, he helped one of the drivers as a mechanic. He also helped his son Dean as a mechanic on Deans car. He enjoyed attending swap meets and liked taking walks around town. He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed playing with them and their train sets.
Left to mourn Larrys passing are his children: Dan (wife Laura) Richards, Winterset; Tammy (husband Mike) Walter, Geneseo, IL; Dean Richards (Fiance Brandy Marxen), Creston; his Ten Grandchildren; and his sisters: Linda Richards, Creston; Phyllis Stewart, Creston; Agnes Smith, Creston; and Delores Parker, Missouri.
Preceding Larry in death were his Parents; Three Brothers; One Brother as a toddler; and
Three Sisters.
