Linda Rulla

Linda Rulla, 74 of Creston, Iowa entered eternal rest Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at EveryStep Hospice House in Creston. Private graveside services will be at Graceland Cemetery in Creston. Memorial contributions may be directed to EveryStep Hospice House in Creston. Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center of Creston is in charge of arrangements. Linda Lou Rulla was born in Beatrice, Nebraska on July 13, 1947. Linda is the daughter of Elmer John Henry Schmale and Alena Elizabeth (Weber) Schmale and was raised in Beatrice. Linda attended the Beatrice Public Schools and would receive her GED in 1965. Linda was married on March 30, 1964 and had 3 daughters: Sheila, Sarah and Debbie and an adopted son, Terry.

Linda was never idle and worked hard her entire life. She began working as a young woman in Beatrice as a Nurse Aide. The family moved to southwest Iowa where Linda owned and operated the Variety Store in Stanton. She later co-owned and operated the B & L Sales and Service in Red Oak, Iowa. She moved to Villisca, Iowa in 1984 and worked as a Nurse Aide at the Good Samaritan Center. Linda was the 1st certified, female Jailor in the Montgomery County Sheriff’s office and was also certified to carry a Firearm. Linda later received a degree in Cosmetology from Hair Tech in Creston and then owned and operated the Hair Connection Beauty Salon in Villisca.

Linda also had many hobbies to keep her busy including Crocheting and Quilting. She took cake decorating classes and loved her fun trips with family and friends to the Casino. Linda was an avid reader, loved tending to her flowers and always enjoyed going camping.

Preceding Linda in death were her mother and father; 1 brother, 3 sisters and several other extended family members.

Left to cherish Linda’s memory are her children: Sheila (Dan) Graham of Urbandale, Iowa; Sarah Kemball of Creston, Iowa; Debbie Loudon (significant other, Todd Kimpson) of Corning, Iowa and Terry Rulla of Colorado; 5 grandchildren: Josh (Arielle) Meints, stationed in Germany; Nicole (Ryan) Bohanan of Red Oak, Iowa; Brittany Conners of Creston, Iowa; Jacob Kemball of Creston and Mendell Rulla of Nebraska; 6 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
