Lyle Douglas Jackson was born July 7, 1936 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Sheldon and Jean (Rosecrans) Jacobson. Upon graduating from high school in Chicago, Lyle immediately began attending the University of Illinois in Champagne, Illinois where he earned both a Bachelor Degree and a short time later, his Masters Degree. Lyle would go on to teach at various colleges in Chicago, North Dakota, Minnesota and for several years, at Southwestern Community College in Creston, Iowa where he became known as “Doug”. In April of 1966, Doug married Paulina Ruth Hayes in Corning, Iowa. Doug would later adopt Paulina’s 4 children: Charles, Steven, Anthony and Teresa.
Doug always enjoyed time spent fishing and listening to KSIB Radio during their broadcasts of Creston High School sports. He was an avid Football fan and especially liked watching the Iowa Hawkeyes, the University of Illinois and of course, the Chicago Bears. During his time teaching at SWCC, Doug was active in the Creston Kiwanis Club and was an avid reader his entire life.
Doug was preceded in death by his parents and extended family members.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife, Paulina of Creston; his adopted children: Charles (Beckie) Jackson of Creston; Steven (Rebecca) Jackson of Midland, North Carolina; Anthony (Melissa) Jackson of South Elgin, IL and Teresa Jackson of Creston; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and his brother, Michael (Sharon) Jacobson of Des Plaines, Illinois.
