Mabel Blanche Swaim, the daughter of John and Marie (Mika) Pashek, was born December 20, 1911 on the family farm in Adams County near Nevinville, Iowa. Mabel entered eternal rest on December 14, 2008, at Crest Haven Care Centre, Creston, Iowa, at the age of ninety-six years.
Mabel was the oldest of four children. She was educated at a rural school near the family farm and the Nevinville Consolidated School from which she graduated high school in 1931. On March 28, 1948, she married Wayne Swaim at the United Methodist Church in Creston. Mabel lived her entire life in the Creston area following her marriage.
Mabel worked as a clerk for the Woolworths Store in Creston for 23 years. The store closed and she went to work at Greater Community Hospital in Creston and worked there until her retirement.
Mabel was a member of the Creston United Methodist Church. She enjoyed traveling, serving, and crocheting, a task she learned from her mother when she was seven years old.
Mabel is survived by her sister-in-law, Doris Pashek of Creston and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Mabel in death were her Parents; Husband, Wayne in 1961; Two Sisters: Molly Biley and Frances Larsen; and her Brother: Arthur Pashek.
