Martha Jane Haberling was born in Des Moines, IA on November 26, 1941, the only child of James Milo and Ruth Iris (Crum) Hackett. Martha was raised in Des Moines and attended public schools, graduating from East High School. Following graduation, Martha moved to St. Augustine, Florida where she met and later married Bob Bland in 1960. A son, David, was born to this union. The couple later divorced. Martha returned to Des Moines and in 1975, she married Paul Haberling. The couple spent many years together until Paul passed away.
Following Paul’s passing, Martha moved to Osceola where she met Clifford Anderson. Martha and Clifford moved to Creston 9 years ago and remained together until Clifford’s death in November 2017. Martha was a devout Christian and attended the Methodist church while residing in Osceola. The last 4 years, Martha resided at CrestHaven and attended services weekly. Martha loved playing Bingo and card games. She and Clifford enjoyed going fishing and traveling together.
Martha is survived by her son, David Bland and fiance’, Heather Tompkins, of Des Moines, IA; 2 granddaughters: Shelby (husband Clifford) Austin of Johnston, IA and Bailie Bland of Alabama; 4 step children: Beth (husband Glen) Sievers of Urbandale, IA, Lori (husband Bob) Westcott of Creston, IA, Dean Anderson of New Windsor, IL and Tom (wife Connie) Anderson of Owensboro, KY; Martha is also survived by numerous step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
Preceding Martha in death were her parents and husbands Bob Bland, Paul Haberling and Clifford Anderson.
