Maxine Swanger

E. Maxine Swanger, the daughter of Ernest Andrew and Dulcie Velma (Moore) Busch, was born Aug. 9, 1919, in Blunt, S.D. Maxine entered eternal rest on May 30, 2010 at the Greater Regional Hospice Home, Creston, Iowa, at the age of ninety years.
Maxine married Leland William Swanger on July 23, 1938, in Chillicothe, Mo. Maxine was a homemaker. She graduated from Macksburg High School and lived most of her life in rural Creston, where she helped Leland operate the familys farm.
Maxine enjoyed spending time with family and friends. She was an exceptional pie-maker and she enjoyed bowling, golfing and playing cards. Maxine was a former president and secretary-treasurer of the Williamson Legion Auxiliary and Nevinville Ladies Aide. She was also a member of the XYZ and Jolly Neighbors clubs, as well as the Orient United Methodist Church. She taught childrens Sunday School and Bible School classes at the former Nevinville United Methodist Church, of which she was a member.
She is survived by a son, Larry (Cathy) Swanger of West Des Moines; two daughters, Connie Arey (Larry Reisinger) of Fort Mohave, Ariz. and Jerilyn (Al) Schneider of Creston; a brother, Douglas Busch of Winterset; six grandchildren, Cindy Nelson, Tracy Arey, Mitch Arey, Michael Swanger, Brianna Schneider and Garrett Schneider; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother, Leslie Busch; and two sisters, Phyllis Frazier and Irma Hintermeister.
Memorials may be directed to Greater Regional Hospice Home; Williamson American Legion Auxiliary; and/or the Orient United Methodist Church.
