Merrill Dean Eggman, 85, of Cromwell died Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at his home. Funeral Services will be 1:30 P.M., Saturday, December 19th at Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center in Creston. The Rev. Delores Doench will officiate. A private family burial will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery at Cromwell. Open viewing will be 2:00 – 6:00 P.M., Friday, December 18, 2020 at the funeral home. Merrill D. Eggman, son of Florence (Mullin) and Ronald Eggman, was born February 20, 1935, in Adams County. He graduated from Cromwell High School in 1952. On September 19, 1954, he married Lela Harrison in Cromwell. While in high school and continuing after graduation, he worked for the Atlantic Bottling Company driving a coke truck. In 1957, Merrill and Lela began farming west of Cromwell. Merrill also sold Madison silos and Badger equipment.
Merrill was a member of the Cromwell United Church of Christ and the Eagles. He and Lela still reside at the farm west of Cromwell where they raised their three children. Merrill valued hard-work and honesty. He enjoyed supporting his children’s 4-H and school activities. He was proud to live in a community where neighbors help neighbors. Merrill especially enjoyed the time he spent with his great grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Lela Eggman of Cromwell; two daughters: Marilyn (husband Mark) Ide and Linda (husband Jeff) Lamb, both of Creston; and one daughter-in-law, Deb Eggman of Prescott; Eight grandchildren: Dana (husband Brian) Helvie, Trent (wife LeAnn) Eggman, Trista (husband Bernie) Brazeau, Amanda (husband Miguel) Rangel-Schrank, Andrea (husband Jared) Hicks, Travis (wife Hannah) Eggman, Joel Lamb, and Jordan Eggman; and fifteen great grandchildren.
Merrill was preceded in death by his parents, his son Mark, and three brothers: Melvin, George and Donald.
