Norma Mardale Konkler, the daughter of Elza Marion and Vivian Gwendolyn (Keuter) Siddens, was born on August 5, 1927 in Afton, Iowa. Norma entered eternal rest on November 12, 2013 at Afton Care Center, Afton, Iowa at the age of eighty-six years.
Norma graduated from Afton High School with the Class of 1945. After graduation, she married Richard Konkler. They were married for twenty years and later divorced. Norma met her life partner and became the common law wife of William “Bill” Burgduff.
Norma lived in Afton until moving to Creston in 1972. Norma was a homemaker and a farm wife. Norma and Bill lived on a farm near Thayer for a short time. Norma worked outside the home for Gits Manufacturing; worked at several different restaurants; and raised seven children. She returned to Afton and lived in the Afton Care Center for the past six years.
Norma was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for over thirty years and volunteered many hours helping with the American Legion and the V.F.W.
Left to cherish Norma’s memory are her children: Kelly Konkler, Creston; Tony (Bobbi) Konkler, Carroll, IA; Tracy Konkler. Thayer, IA; Leslie (Ray) Farris, New Albany, MS; Lori Burgduff, Shenandoah, IA; Carolyn Burgduff, Salem, OR; and Kirby Konkler, Creston; twenty-one grandchildren; thirty-seven great-grandchildren; her sister: Mona (Jack) Quee, Afton; and one niece: Beth (Bruce) Herzberg, Afton.
Preceding Norma in death were her parents; her husband, Bill Burgduff in 2010; her daughter, Darcie Konkler; her nephew, Lonnie Quee; and her ex-husband, Richard Konkler.
