Orval Elza Boswell, the son of Elza Lamont and Mabel Gertrude (Scott) Boswell, was born on a farm on October 10, 1923, in rural Adams County, near Corning, Iowa. Orval entered eternal rest on December 5, 2008, at the Greater Regional Hospice Home, Creston, Iowa, at the age of eighty-five years.
Orval lived in Adams County most of his life. He graduated from Corning High School with Class of 1942. Orval served in the United States Navy in the South Pacific on the U.S.S. Boston from 1942 until 1945 during World War II.
On April 4, 1945, Orval married Ula Marie “Blondie” Holste at St. Peters United Church of Christ, Massena, Iowa. Two daughters were born to bless this union: Pam and Rene.
Orval farmed in Adams County, near Williamson, all of his adult life. He was a member of St. Peters United Church of Christ; a member of the Williamson American Legion Post #719; and served as a Board Member of the Co-op in Fontanelle, IA. Also, Orval was a census taker for several years.
Left to cherish Orvals memory is his wife, Blondie Boswell, Prescott; his daughters: Pam (Dennis) Richie, Creston; Rene (Joe) Koons, Blue Springs, MO; Six Grandchildren; Sixteen Great-Grandchildren; his brother: Clarence (Bobby) Boswell, Cumberland, IA; his sisters: Laura (Warren) Johnston, Corning, IA; Alice (John) Burchard, Omaha, NE; and Bernice (Glen) Huntington, Storm Lake, IA; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Orval in death were his parents; Brother, Albert Boswell; and One Grandson, Christopher Lee Koons.
