Patricia Ellen Arntzen, affectionately known as Pat, was born on April 3, 1946, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She lived a life defined by love, dedication, and an infectious positivity that touched everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. Pat passed away peacefully on March 26, 2025, at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston, Iowa, leaving behind a legacy of warmth and kindness.
After graduating from Jefferson High School with the Class of 1964, Pat embarked on a fulfilling career as an Elementary Para Professional, nurturing and guiding countless young minds throughout her life. Her commitment to education reflected her selfless and caring nature, making a lasting impact in the lives of the students she served.
On November 28, 1964, Pat married the love of her life, Darrell Lynn Arntzen, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This union was blessed with two wonderful children who were the pride and joy of her life. Together, they created a home filled with laughter, love, and cherished memories. Pat was tremendously devoted to her family, often expressing the immense joy she found in babysitting her grandchildren. The time spent with them brought her endless happiness, as she witnessed their growth and shared countless unforgettable moments.
Those who knew Pat described her as gentle, dependable, and always fun to be around. With a personality that radiated warmth, she was loving and positive, never meeting a stranger. Her approach to life inspired those around her, and her love for all things chocolate added a lively sweetness to her character.
Pat was passionately involved in her church, demonstrating her commitment through her active participation in the Lutheran Women Missionary League and the Altar Guild. Her faith was an integral part of her life, guiding her kindness and service to others.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Darrell Arntzen of Lenox, Iowa; daughter, Christy (Ed) Drake of Corning, Iowa; son, Brent (Sherry) Arntzen of Urbandale, Iowa; four grandchildren: Jordan (Jenny) Drake, Marissa (Cameron) Kiner, Blake Arntzen, and Emily Arntzen; and two great-grandchildren: Kennedy and Brady Kiner. Pat also leaves behind her brother, Richard Raddatz of Anamosa, Iowa, and his son, Chad; as well as several cousins, other extended family, and a wide circle of dear friends who will mourn her passing.
Pat is preceded in death by her parents, Julius Herman and Alta Caroline (Gillmore) Raddatz; her sister-in-law, Toots Raddatz; and her in-laws, Orie and Mary Arntzen.
A visitation celebrating Pat's life will be held on April 25, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM with the family receiving friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center in Corning, Iowa. A memorial service will take place at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Corning on April 26, 2025, at 10:30 AM, where family and friends can gather to honor the remarkable woman that Pat was. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Redeemer Lutheran Church.
As we reflect on her journey, we acknowledge the profound impact she had on so many. Pat’s loving spirit will forever be remembered in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her.
