Burial will be at the Graceland Cemetery in Creston with Military Honors by Theodore J. Martens VFW Post #1797. Memorials may be directed to the Creston Elks Lodge Building Fund.
Raymond Rudolph Fogle, the son of Rudolph and Myrtle Myree (Stevens) Fogle, was born on March 30, 1927 on a farm northwest of Kellerton, Iowa. Ray entered eternal rest on September 26, 2009, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of eighty-two.
Rays family moved to a farm west of Diagonal in 1932. He attended Diagonal school and graduated with the Class of 1945. While in school he took part in basketball, baseball and many vocal groups. Ray served in the United States Army Air Corps from June 22, 1945 until May 17, 1946 during World War II. On June 13, 1948, Ray married Elizabeth Anne Wirth at Creston, Iowa. Two children were born to bless this union: Larry Ray and Ann Denise.
Ray has lived in Creston since 1950. In 1957, Ray started Fogle Plumbing and Heating which he owned and operated until his retirement in 2007. In 1957, he became one of the original members of the Creston Chorus. Ray became a member of the Elks Lodge #605 of Creston in 1961 and was a current member of the Creston Water Works Board of Directors.
Left to cherish Rays memory are his daughter, Ann (Kirk) Levine, Creston; Daughter-in-Law, Catherine Fogle, Creston; Five Grandsons: Matthew (Victoria) Levine, Creston; Jeffrey (Amy) Levine, Mount Ayr; Scott (Christina) Levine, Clinton, IA; Bradley Fogle, Creston; and Derek Fogle, Creston; Two Great-Grandsons: Hayden Levine and Carter Levine; his two Brothers-in-Law: Wallace (Jane) Wirth, Georgetown, TX; and Charles Wirth, Hendricks, MN; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding Ray in death were his Parents; his Wife in 1994; his Son, Larry Fogle in 2009; four sisters: Lucille Nichols; Geraldine Rief; Marie Maes; and Margaret Cochran; and a Brother-in-Law: Ben Wirth.
