Rita Kay Frey, the daughter of William Leonard and Ruby Vera (Hailey) Dudley, was born in Creston, Iowa on May 3, 1948. Rita was educated in the Creston Public Schools, graduating from Creston High School with the Class of 1965. Rita was united in marriage to Robert John Frey on February 27, 1965 at the United Methodist Church in Creston. The couple was blessed with 3 children: Robert Jr., Aaron and Klisa.
While raising her children, Rita worked as a hairdresser at the Hair House and would later teach at Hair Tech for several years. Rita was hired as a Claims Processor for Lloyd’s Insurance in Creston, where she worked until 1985. She then went to work for SIRWA until 1992. During this time, Rita also worked part-time for Carol Johns at1st Realty. In her spare time, Rita earned and later received an Associate Degree in Accounting from Southwestern Community College. Rita retired in 2011 from the Accounting Department at Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield at the age of 63.
In retirement, Rita loved Arts & Crafts, doing Crossword Puzzles and tending to her flower gardens. She loved horses and even owned Thoroughbred Race Horses for a time. She enjoyed decorating her home with new ideas, especially at Christmas time. Christmas was Rita’s favorite holiday and always wanted to make sure her family enjoyed Christmas too. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Creston.
Preceding Rita in death were her parents; her brother, Lee Bullock and a brother-in-law, Richard Delaney.
Rita is survived by her husband of 53 years, Robert Frey of Creston; her 3 children: Robert J. Frey, Jr (wife Cherie) of Gretna, Nebraska, Aaron (wife Da Nel) Frey of Creston and Klisa (husband Greg) Lange of Orient, Iowa; 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Rita is also survived by a brother, Robert (wife Ruth) Bullock of Owattana, Minnesota; a sister, Evelyn Delaney of Sacramento, California; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
