Robert “Bob” Minson, 91 of Creston, IA entered eternal rest Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at EveryStep Kavanaugh House in Des Moines, IA. Memorial services will be 2:30 PM, Saturday, December 12, 2020 at Pearson Family Funeral Service & Cremation Center in Creston with Pastor Rick Titus officiating. Military Honors by the Theodore J. Martens VFW Post #1797. The family will receive friends from 1-2 PM, prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Robert Minson Memorial Fund, to be established. Robert William Minson was born November 7, 1929 in Colorado Springs CO, one of 11 children born to Luther Everett and Nellie Marie Minson. Bob graduated from high school in Colorado Springs with the Class of 1948. Following graduation, Bob enlisted in the United States Naval Reserves. In 1952, he was drafted into Active Duty and served during the Korean Conflict. Bob was received and Honorable Discharge in 1954.
Upon his return to civilian life, Bob married Elma Lillian Short in Colorado Springs, CO in 1955. Two children were born to this union: Robert Scott Minson in 1957 and William Britt Minson in 1959. Beginning in 1955, Bob began a long career with the Mountain Bell Telephone Company. He worked as a Wiring Technician, maintaining the telephone wires, retiring in 1981. Bob was a member of both the American Legion and VFW and was a Golden Eagle in the Eagles Lodge in Colorado Springs.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother and father; his oldest son, Scott; his 10 siblings and several nieces and nephews.
Robert is survived by his son, Britt (wife Lisa) Minson of Creston; grandchildren: Amber Dawn (husband Chad) Rutherford of West Des Moines, IA, Brittney Lillian-Ann Minson (significant other, Braydon Held) of Grimes, IA, , Jack Daniel Minson and Rosie (husband Christian) Walker, all of Colorado Springs, CO; Jessica Rose-Marie McClarnon (significant other, Kody Stufflebean) of Creston, IA; 2 great-grandchildren: Ridge and Ryder Rutherford; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
