Roberta Henry

Roberta Ann Henry was born in Creston, Iowa on August 18, 1939, the only child born to Fred Clare and Ethel Roberta (Bland) Cunningham.  Roberta was raised in Creston and graduated from Creston High School with the Class of 1957.   She was married on September 20, 1959 to David Henry at the Salem Lutheran Church, and the couple were blessed with 3 children:  Michael, Chuck and Linda.  

Roberta obtained her LPN degree in the 1960’s and worked at the Creston hospital in the OB Department.  In 1988, Roberta received her RN degree and began a career with Iowa Methodist Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa.  Following her Nursing retirement, she worked at the Creston Walmart for over 10 years.  

To think of Roberta, you remember a caring individual.  The amount of love she had for her family was boundless, but you knew when she wasn’t happy because of her red-hair temper.  The support she showed to her family and especially her grandchildren, was always there.  If Roberta was disappointed in someone, she never held it against that person and was not judgmental.  All holidays were a big event to Roberta, decorations everywhere.  During the Christmas Holiday, the family would find presents everywhere including hidden ones the family would find months or even years later.  Roberta will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Preceding Roberta in death was her husband, David in 2005; her daughter, Linda Henry; her son Chuck Henry; and 2 grandsons:  Travis and Nick Henry.

Roberta is survived by her son, Michael (wife Maureen) Henry of Chanute, Kansas; her daughter-in-law, Bert Henry (significant other, Greg Fogle) of Creston, Iowa; 3 grandsons:  Josh Henry (Kaitlin Rosenbeck), Zach Henry and David (Sarah) Simmons; 2 granddaughters:  Keirstan (Ben) Welch and Christine (Tom) Von Dorn; and 7 great-grandchildren:  Charlee, Camryn, Henry, Archie, Hope, Ella and Tristan.
