Ron Fox Clinton

Ron “Fox” Clinton, 82, of Creston passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral Services will be at 11:00AM Saturday, January 12, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church, 702 West Prairie Street, Creston, Iowa with Rev. Cynthia Ripperger officiating. Open visitation will be from 2:00PM - 7:00PM with family receiving friends from 5:00PM- 7:00PM Friday, January 11, 2019 at Pearson Family Funeral Service and Cremation Center, 809 West Montgomery Street, Creston, Iowa. Ronald B. Clinton the son of Clyde Harold and Violet Cletis (Abercrombie) Clinton was born on April 4, 1936 in Geary, Oklahoma. His family settled in Council Bluffs when he was four years old. He graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in Council Bluffs in 1954 and Simpson College in Indianola with his Bachelor’s Degree in 1958. On June 14, 1958 Ron married Ruth Kinsey in Grimes, Iowa. Two children, Debra and Carole, would bless this union. In 1959 they moved their young family to Creston, where Ron started teaching at Burton R. Jones Jr. High School.
Ron would later receive his Master’s Degree from Northwest Missouri State University. In 1964 he began his long career with Southwestern Community College where he was a coach, athletic director, and teacher. For his lifetime of support to Southwestern Community College he was the first inductee to the Athletic Hall of Fame in 2013, and was also inducted into the Thomas Jefferson High School Hall of Fame. Ron also was a coach for Creston High School during his career. He touched so many lives and he will be missed by many.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Ruth Clinton of Creston; daughters, Debra Jeske (Scott) of Eagle Grove and Carole Pendegraft of Creston; grandchildren: Caitlin Jeske (Heath Moore), Kelsey Stein (Eric), McKristie Willard (Logan), Hallie Jeske, Jakob Jeske, Alexa Jeske, Addyson Jeske, Clarity Pendegraft and Carlee Pendegraft; great-grandchildren: Aria Stein, Laramie and Madelynn Willard; brother, Gary Clinton; sisters-in-law, Jane Clinton and Anne Williams (Floyd); many other relatives and friends.
Preceding Ron in death were his parents and brother, Terrell Clinton.
