Rowena Maxine Gebbie, daughter of Neal Cornelius and Minerva Miranda (Robison) Smith, was born on April 1, 1916 in Carbon, Iowa. Rowena entered eternal rest on Friday, August 20, 2010 at the Life Care Center of Orange Park in Orange Park, Florida at the age of ninety-four years, four months and ten days.
Rowena was united in marriage to Donald Edwin Gebbie in Maryville, Missouri on May 11, 1935, and one child was born to this union. The couple owned and operated a grocery store and a roller skating rink in Carbon. Together the couple worked extremely hard and was always side by side working together. Rowena lived most of her life in the Carbon and Corning area.
Rowena attended the Carbon United Methodist Church and belonged to the Carbon United Methodist Women. After she moved to Corning, Rowena attended the Corning Christian Church.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Patricia (Darl) Johnson; two grandchildren: Gene (Bobbi) Johnson and Don (Kathy) Johnson; two great-grandchildren: Stacey Johnson and Danny Johnson, all of Jacksonville, Florida; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Preceding Rowena in death were her parents; husband, Donald in 1989; granddaughter, Darla Johnson in 1963; three brothers and 3 sisters.
