Sherrill Sue Giza, the daughter of Howard Duaine Lamb and Darlene Nelda (Davis) Lamb, was born July 7, 1955 in Osceola, Iowa and entered into eternal rest Monday, January 31, 2022 at EveryStep Hospice Home in Creston, Iowa surrounded by her family after a courageous 19 month battle with brain cancer.
Sherrill graduated from Murray High School in 1973. She then attended Loma Linda University School of Nursing in Loma Linda, California and graduated with her LPN. On October 18, 1975 Sherrill was united in marriage to John Robert Giza at her parents’ home in Murray, Iowa. Two children blessed this union, Nicole Dawn and Melissa Marie.
Sherrill worked as a nurse for a short while before Nicole was born. She then was a homemaker for a number of years before returning to work as a para professional for the Creston School District so she could be on the same schedule as her girls. She spent over 20 years with the school district before retiring in 2010 and truly loved working with the kids.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and loved attending activities for the girls growing up and later for her grandkids. She was always there for concerts, sporting events, 4H activities, and any other activities the kids were involved in. Christmas was her favorite time of year and gathering the family together to celebrate was one of her greatest joys. Each year she promised she would cut back but that never seemed to happen. Sherrill enjoyed attending the sprint car races with John and camping in Knoxville, Iowa with the many friends they made over the years.
Sherrill was a member of Holy Spirit Parish in Creston. She was a faithful person and each morning started with her reading the Bible. She was a kind and generous person and always welcomed her children’s friends into her home and later did the same thing for many friends of her grandchildren. Sherrill was a selfless person, whose smile lit up a room, and always put others before herself.
Preceding Sherrill in death were her parents; brother, Leslie Lamb; father-in-law John Giza; mother-in-law Vera Giza; sister-in-law Linda Giza; and sister-in law Mary Giza.
Sherrill leaves to cherish her memory her husband, John Giza of Creston; daughter Nicole (Ben) Adamson of Creston; daughter Melissa (Brett) Wellhausen of Clarinda; granddaughters: Macy Adamson, Ava Adamson and Carsen Wellhausen; grandson Cain Wellhausen; granddogs Hadley and Skipper; sister Shirley Giza of Creston; brother-in-law Stan Giza of Osceola; sister-in law Carol (Gary) McNichols of Creston; brother-in-law Ed (Donnette) Giza of Council Bluffs; special niece Jenny (Troy) Wheeler of Lorimor; many nieces and nephews as well as many friends.
