Steven Michael “Mike” Cobb, son of Robert Dale and Dorothy Jean (Weckman) Cobb, was born on May 1, 1949 in Iowa City, Iowa. Mike entered eternal rest on Monday, May 20, 2013 at his home in Villisca, Iowa at the age of sixty-four years and nineteen days.
Mike entered into the United States Marine Corps in 1968 and earned the rank of Lieutenant Corporal as a gunner infantryman after honorably serving his country during the Vietnam War where he attained the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with a Star, Vietnam Gallantry Cross and the Vietnam Combat Medal.
In 1972, Mike was united in marriage to Linda Harlan, they later divorced. On May 19, 2012, Mike was united in marriage to Tracy Walton.
Mike lived most of his life in the Carbon area. He has lived in Villisca the last thirteen years. Mike was a machine operator in the construction business most of his adult life. He also worked for Burlington Northern Railroad.
Mike was former Commander and Quarter Master of the Villisca V.F.W. Post 8998.
Left to cherish Mike’s memory is his wife, Tracy Cobb of Villisca, IA; son, John Cobb of Oregon; son, Lee (Chimene) Cobb of Carbon, IA; daughter, DeeDee Snyder of Council Bluffs, IA; six grandchildren: Taylor, Chance, Dayton and Cody Cobb, Samantha Williams and Gardyn Snyder; three brothers: Bill (Cathy) Cobb of Belton, MO, Terry (Rhonda) Cobb of Ponca City, OK and Wayne (Sharon) Cobb of Raymore, MO; two sisters: Debbie (Bill) Allender of Maryville, TN and Sandy (Jack) Hare of Topeka, KS; father-in-law, Willis Walton of Villisca, IA and many nieces nephews, other relatives and friends.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law, Darlene Walton; his grandparents: Bruce and Pearl Cobb and Bernerd and Stella Weckman; brother-in-law, Ray Westerfield and sister-in-law, Sue Cobb.
