Terry Lee Plowman was born September 13, 1947 in Creston, the only child born to Orville Francis “Rusty” and Hazel Verlee (Moore) Plowman. Terry was raised and educated in Creston and graduated from Creston High School with the Class of 1965. Following graduation, Terry began working for the Iowa Department of Transportation and worked off and on there for many years. Terry was married on February 9, 1969 at the United Methodist Church in Guss, Iowa to Ronda Lou Mitchell. Two sons were born to bless this union: Cale and Grant.

Terry worked as a School Bus Driver for more than 23 years. A job he absolutely loved, working for the Orient, Creston and Diagonal Public Schools. He and Ronda owned and operated Ronda’s Maid-Rite and Plowman’s Conoco Service Station in Creston, each for several years. He worked for Van Mark, traveling to provide service on equipment in many different states. Terry also worked for Creston Nursing & Rehab as a custodian during the time Bill Robinson was the Administrator.

Terry was an avid race car fan. He enjoyed NASCAR and Sprint Car Racing and traveled many times to the Knoxville Nationals. For several years he drove his #71 race car at the Corning Speedway. He volunteered as a Reserve Deputy and volunteer fireman in Union County. Terry recently became a fan of Iowa Hawkeye Football as well as the KC Chiefs and Green Bay Packers. Terry was also an animal lover and currently had a pair of white Doves, Jigs and Maggie. Terry never met a stranger and will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.

Preceding Terry in death were his parents and his in-laws, Alvin and Lois Mitchell. Left to cherish his memory is his wife, Ronda Plowman of Creston, Iowa; his two sons: Cale (Dawn) Plowman of Clarinda, Iowa and Grant (Julie) Plowman of Creston, Iowa; 6 granddaughters: Jordan (Matt) Logan of Adel, Iowa; Kiersten (significant other Davin) O’Berry of Junction City, Kansas; Olivia Plowman of Clarinda, Iowa; Haley Plowman of Junction City, Kansas; Catherine Plowman of Iowa City, Iowa and Tybee Plowman of Creston, Iowa; his great-granddaughter, Oaklynn Latham and 2 more great-granddaughters on the way; Terry is also survived by many, many friends and a large extended family, including his many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, of which Gary and Monica Briley have been especially helpful during this difficult time.
