Victoria I. Woods

Victoria Ida Woods, the daughter of Caroll Melvin and Dorothy Isabel (Lane) Robison, was born August 30, 1945 in Creston, Iowa. Victoria entered eternal rest Sunday, December 9, 2018, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of seventy-three years.
Victoria graduated from Prescott High School, Prescott, Iowa, with the Class of 1963. She was united in marriage to Duane Dale Woods on September 27, 1964, at the Christian Church in Lenox, Iowa.
Victoria had various types of employment through the years, but a wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker were her best and most loved jobs.
Victoria or Gram as she was known by her grandkids enjoyed reading. Mom could read 5 books with 500-600 pages each in a week. She was a fast and competent reader. Mom loved crossword puzzles and always finished them. She loved playing cribbage and cards with Dad and would call him out for cheating if he was winning - even though she knew he wasn’t cheating.
Routinely, she could be found watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune and was very good at knowing the answers and getting the puzzles correct. She knew a little bit about everything and would have been a great “phone a friend”.
Victoria had many talents. She was a good seamstress and could make anything without a pattern. She also fixed a lot of our well used and adored items. The items ranged from favorite clothing, baby blankets, sleeping bags, curtains and anything else that needed stitches. She liked to knit, had excellent penmanship and could iron anything to perfection with perfect pleats. Gram loved baking for her kids and grandkids. She especially loved baking them a two-layer birthday cake. She baked a lot of cookies and candy and if you were fortunate enough to drop by when she had some, you went home with a goodie bag.
Gram was a great cook. No matter what she made, she always served it and said ‘”Well, it may not be fit to eat. If you don’t like it, don’t eat it.”
Victoria loved expressing herself through art, especially through painting, drawing, and doodling.
Victoria loved the holidays and they would not have been complete without playing board games with the grandkids. Gram was not a person that cheated and did not use a lot of profanity, so any chance the grandkids had to make her read a curse word in a board game, they took it.
Victoria had a love of purses. In Victoria’s later years, her declining health prevented her from carrying a purse, but it did not prevent Duane from carrying it. She tried to keep him stylish. Duane was even complimented once on having a nice purse that matched his shoes.
Victoria never judged and looked at both sides of everything. Her door was always open and she was supportive of all of her family. She also believed all people deserved to be happy, no matter who they loved.
Left to cherish Victoria’s memory is her loving husband of 54 years: Duane, Corning, Iowa; daughters: Dawn Woods, Corning, Iowa; Terri (Max) Dolch, Council Bluffs, Iowa; Nicole (Chris) Hogan, Lenox, Iowa; seven grandchildren: Keelan Woods, Channelview, TX ; Hollie Perrin, Bridgewater, IA; Tyler Dolch, Minnetonka, MN; Spencer Dolch, Council Bluffs, IA; Colton Hogan; McKinna Hogan; Rydder Hogan all of Lenox, IA; brother: Kenneth (Phyllis) Robison, Donna, Texas; sisters: Priscilla Williams, Villisca, Iowa; Diane (Tracy) Rasmussen, Lake Lotawana, Missouri; and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Preceding Victoria in death were her parents; brothers: Jerry Robison; Steven Robison; brother-in-law Jim Williams.
